GREAT RESULTS FOR ARUBA AT THE YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES IN CHINA
Daniella van den Berg and Jordy Groters represented Aruba at the 2nd Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing China this past week. Both swimmers showed the world that Aruba can compete with the best in swimming. Daniella swam personal best times in both her races in the 400 (4:26.14) and 800 (8:59.38) Freestyle. Both times are new Aruba Open as well as Agegroup (15-17) Records. In the 800 Daniella finished 15th, qualifying for the CAC (a time) and PANAM GAMES (b time). Jordy, also doing personal bests in the 50 (28.90) and 100 (1.03.96) Breaststroke, setting new Aruba Open and Age Group (15-17) Records. Jordy, who previously already qualified for CAC, qualified for the semi finals in the 50, finished in 11th place just 0.06 short of making it into the Top 8.
Both swimmers will leave China tomorrow for their new distanations. Daniella will start as a freshmen at Florida State University, while Jordy will be attending University of Missouri.
